Geotechnical Engineer Job Duties:
Conduct site investigations as needed to gain understanding of the area in which the construction will take place.
Determine the stability of excavation sites.
Generate solutions to the challenges caused by the erosion that is caused when the soil is cut open, laid bare, or compacted.
Create efficient designs to establish or improve the engineering properties of soils and rock for foundation design and construction.
Establish what steps need to be taken to prepare the site for construction.
Design embankments and retaining walls to stop or slow erosion.
